UX LAB: WHERE IDEAS MEET IMPACT
At Franka Robotics, I conducted UX workshops to bridge the gap between design and development, ensuring a shared understanding of user needs and design principles. These sessions streamlined collaboration, reducing misalignment and rework, which led to faster development cycles and a more polished product. As a result, the company delivered a more user-friendly experience, strengthening customer satisfaction and directly contributing to higher sales and retention.
Design Methodologies and Techniques
Mental Models: Understanding users' cognitive frameworks and assumptions.
Brainstorming: Generating a wide range of ideas through collaborative sessions.
Sketching: Rapidly visualizing concepts and solutions.
Provocation Techniques: Challenging conventional thinking to spark innovative ideas.
Mind Mapping: Organizing thoughts and ideas visually.
User Profiles and Value Propositions: Defining target users and their needs to guide design decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Organize the Workshops: Conduct workshops using appropriate UCD methodologies to address specific design challenges.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product owners, product managers, engineers, UI designers, and UX developers to identify and implement effective solutions.
Communicate Design Solutions: Clearly convey design solutions at various stages of the development process, including use cases, user stories, and final design specifications.
Warm-up Activity: Mental Models – In 5 minutes, sketch how you make coffee in the morning.
This exercise helps reveal how people think processes should work, based on their habits, experiences, and expectations. It’s a quick way to surface mental models and ensure our design thinking stays aligned with real user perspectives.
Overview
Below are some rough examples of warm-ups, methods, and practices that have been used during UX lab workshops. These activities are designed to uncover user mindsets, foster creative thinking, and align design decisions with real user expectations.
